Forward Observer Gary Pendley passed away on 10 May 2023. Gary served in Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment during the periods of May 1968 to March 1969. Gary was well respected within Kilo Company. His courage, wisdom and spirit always stood out, especially when he was in combat. He was always there while fighting the enemy and also caring for the wounded when he could. He would help in any capacity he could and cared deeply for his fellow marines. On 18 March 1969 Gary suffered a serious life changing head wound during a firefight with the enemy. Gary's Story as told by fellow Forward Observer Chuck Cammack can be found on the next page.
