On the 10th of January, 1969, three (3) companies of 3/26 Marines landed          near a wooded area, as you can see in the photo.  Also reflected are two (2) Kit carson scouts with floppy jungle hats, a captured VC, tagged and smoking a cigarette, a pit dug for hiding trash and three (3) other Marines on the left.
The Marines are stiil unloading from the chopper.  The Marine in the center with his back towards the camera is a dog handler with his dog at his side.  Dogs were good for sniffing out the enemy  before they could be seen.
The VC in this picture has just been captured, and the Marine on the far right is GYSGT Walter Kennedy.  You will notice in the photos where the bark is missing from the trees, it was caused by shrapnel from previous air strikes.
You can see the CH-46 choppers on the right.  The Corpsman looking through the trees  in the center is Gary Herbold.

Can anyone identify these two (2) Marines that were facing the camera?
All of these photos were taken in January of 1969, so the quality of the photos is not the best, especially after being enlarged.  However, I am thankful to have them, and am honored to share them with you.
